Social-Emotional and Civic Engagement
Social Emotional Learning and Civic Engagement is a cornerstone of Rev Academy and are two of the components that make us unique.

"Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions."- CASEL

"A morally and civically responsible individual recognizes himself or herself as a member of a larger social fabric and therefore considers social problems to be at least partly his or her own; such an individual is willing to see the moral and civic dimensions of issues, to make and justify informed moral and civic judgments, and to take action when appropriate."

How We Create a Positive Experience for our Students
Rev Academy's dedicated staff create the core of our instruction related to Social Emotional Learning and Civic Engagement.
Our partners make it possible to add value to our students' education on mindfulness, civil debate, and creating an environment of dignity and mutual erspect.
CASEL
We use the resources of CASEL (The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) to identify and utilize best practices in Social Emotional Learning. A study of 270,000 students, found that students who participated in Social Emotional Learning like ours scored 11% better on academic assessments than their colleages who did not learn SEL.
UIC CHANCE
UIC CHANCE is a program for students or color at the University of Illinois at Chicago. For the university students, they receive mentoring and support while in school to ensure their success at a challenging university.
Our partnership with UIC CHANCE gives our students a peek inside real college life through specialized programs developed between CHANCE and Rev Academy. Students in specific grades participate in university tours, engineering projects with university students, and collaboration with university students during meet and greets.
